Georgia Gives Day Raises A Record $3.9M for Nonprofits
ATLANTA — November 18, 2016 Yesterday the state proved it can Come Together in a frenzy of generosity around Georgia Gives Day to help and give hope to those who need it. Nonprofit organizations motivated Georgia’s donors to open their hearts to the tune of $3.9 million.
Benefiting organizations with a range of missions including helping the youngest heart patients, assisting victims of domestic violence, educating refugees, beautifying the state and aiding veterans, to name just a few, Georgia Gives Day has raised more than $12 million since it began in 2012.
“Your kindness in helping people served by the nonprofit community in the state around Georgia Gives Day has been truly amazing,” said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of Georgia Center for Nonprofits, organizer of Georgia Gives Day. “Once again Georgian's have shown that we Come Together to support the causes that make our communities thrive. We want to thank everyone for their generosity!”
This year nearly 2,700 nonprofits took part raising money and spreading the word about their work to people from all across the state.
By gathering such a large number of nonprofits together for a day of giving, Georgia Gives Day has been able to garner the support of a host of sponsors who contribute matching funds, monetary boosts and prize incentives for nonprofits and their donors to help them maximize their earnings.
The next Georgia Gives Day will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Nonprofits can register now at GAgivesday.org
In addition to the excitement and millions raised on each year's Georgia Gives Day, GAgivesday.org serves as a fundraising platform for our state's nonprofits the other 364 days in the year, enabling them to run year-round fundraising and special campaigns through the site at the same low transaction rate.
