JANE, THE FOX, AND ME: BULLYING BEHAVIOR AWARENESS AND THE ARTS
TEACHING EMPATHY AND EMPOWERING KIDS
THROUGH THEATRE, LITERATURE, AND VISUAL MEDIA
Jane, the Fox and Me (Jane, le renard et moi)
By Award-Winning Quebec Writer Fanny Britt
Illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault
A story about empathy and friendship
How: By taking our production of Jane, the Fox and Me to schools and community groups and by staging its production throughout the month of February 2015.
Who: Théâtre du Rêve is lucky to partner with 7 Stages Theater and the Ben Marion Institute for Social Justice on this valuable project.
What: Jane is a graphic novel that tells the story of a young girl who seeks comfort in the book Jane Eyre and a special visit from a fox when she is a victim of bullying behavior at school. Our readers theater adaptation brings the story to life through movement, a lush soundscape, and projections, with empathy talkbacks and workshops to follow. Want to learn more? Why: According to stopbullying.org, 70.6% of youth have seen bullying behavior in school, and in one large study, 49% of students grades 4-12 reported experiencing bullying behavior. TdR believes Jane is a crucial project in continuing the conversation about bullying behavior, and creating a space to talk about it through a more approachable platform.
With the $2,000 we hope to raise thanks to your help on GA Gives Day, we will be able to improve the technology we need to spread Jane's message, and provide more subsidized performances for schools and community groups. Donate TODAY for GA Gives Day!

A Little About Us:
Théâtre du Rêve brings live theater, French language and Francophone culture to students of all ages. We have served over 8,000 students from across the Southeast United States in recent years through our workshops, student matinee performances and educational programming for the High Museum of Art. We continue to develop new workshops and residencies to bring into the classroom, in addition to engaging and enriching theatre to extend learning to outside of the classroom!
We are committed to serving a wider audience because we feel strongly that Francophone theatre is not simply for French speakers. We produce bilingual performances that integrate both English and French in the text or use projected subtitles. We believe nothing should prevent anyone from enjoying our productions!
