Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta's mission is to maximize the impact of pro bono engagement by connecting a network of volunteer attorneys with nonprofits in need of free business legal services.
Many nonprofits operate without legal counsel because they lack the funds to pay a lawyer or the connections to find pro bono assistance. The failure to address legal compliance can eventually lead to expensive and time consuming lawsuits, IRS audits, and Department of Labor investigations that can hinder a nonprofit's work in the community. With PBPA, nonprofit organizations have access to the same high-quality and specialized legal services as private companies without having to divert funding away from their missions of serving the underserved.
Who We Assist
We assist 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations that serve low-income or disadvantaged individuals and are unable to pay for legal services. Our clients work to improve the lives of the homeless, domestic violence survivors, at-risk youth, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and other groups in need.
What We’ve Done
Since our launch in late 2005, Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta has assisted more than 780 nonprofit organizations. Over 2,500 attorneys have volunteered their services to Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta clients. In 2015 alone, the direct legal services provided to nonprofit organizations by our volunteer attorneys were valued at over $3.5 million.
Last year on Georgia Gives Day PBPA raised over $18,000 and successfully met a challenge leveraged by our Board of Directors. This year we'd like to beat our record! Raising more than $15,000 this Georgia Gives Day will keep us on track to meet increasing demand for legal services. If we raise $15,000 by midnight on November 17th, including contributions from at least 50 clients, our Board of Directors will donate $15,000 - bringing our grand total to at least $30,000!
