The Georgia Alliance relies on donations and community partnerships to help us do the work we do on a daily basis. GAEH would like to welcome and thank our newest community partners, Chick-fil-A at 2555 Dallas Highway and Chick-fil-A at the West Marietta Crossing locations, Marietta, Georgia for their support.
As a way of saying "Thank You" for donations to Georgia Alliance to End Homelessness during the month of November 2013, you will receive a coupon by mail follow-up for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich that may be redeemed at any Chick-fil-A store courtesy of Chick-fil-A 2555 Dallas Hwy, Marietta, Georgia 30064.
As an example of what your dollars support, during 2012 GAEH provided homeless services coordination to a total of 6,221 persons.
The following is a snapshot of the persons we worked with last year: 1,332 family units; 1,039 were pre-school children between the ages of 0 to 4; 1,888 were school aged between the ages of 5 to 18; and 3,294 were adults. There were twice as many women as men requesting assistance and the average age of adults served were between 25-34 years old.
The number one need requested was for emergency shelter and housing followed by assistance with utilities and then employment. This supports GAEH's data that 48% of Georgia's homeless adults are employed at jobs that do not provide adequate income to cover basic needs.
Did you know that the average age of a homeless person is 9 years old? And on any given night in Georgia there are more than 26,414 children, women and men with no place to call home.
Your generosity will be greatly appreciated!
