DDM supports the rights of people with developmental disabilities to have access to services and the opportunity for full participation in the community. In our residential program, individuals are provided services at the appropriate level of intensity based on specific needs and choices. Residents are served in an environment that provides appropriate safety, freedom and privacy. Residents are provided the highest quality person centered services, training and best living experiences by competent and dedicated staff and volunteers. DDM currently operates 19 homes with 61 residents throughout the state of Georgia.
DDM is also committed to cultivating an environment of awareness and support for churches in regards to individuals and/or families with special needs in their congregation and the community at large. In the Spring of 2013, DDM will host Opening New Worlds, our fifth annual conference for churches, caregivers, teachers and parents that will provide resources for establishing and maintaining a Special Needs Ministry. In addition, DDM staff members are available to serve as consultants to congregations who are in the process of starting a Special Needs Ministry. DDM is also pleased to offer two opportunities for families of special needs children to gather for a time of retreat and renewal. The first retreat will be May 30-June2, 2013 at Epworth By the Sea in Saint Simons Island, GA and the second will be November 15-17, 2013 at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA.
