Christ Community Health Services Augusta
provides comprehensive primary health and dental care services for the uninsured, the under-insured and the medically vulnerable in the Central Savannah River Area of Georgia. Uninsured patients pay for treatment based on a sliding fee scale that starts at $25.
CCHSA operates in two health centers. We have 10 providers (6 physicians, 1 dentist, 2 physician assistants, and 1 nurse practitioner) and more than 35 support staff on our team. Our providers are board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Family Dentistry and Pediatrics.
Since opening in November 2007, we have experienced steady growth in our patient population. CCHSA has logged more than 59,000 patient visits. We expect to complete almost 18,000 visits in 2013.
Despite the presence of numerous medical facilities in Augusta, the need for affordable primary healthcare is significant.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2010 American Community Survey, more than 76,000 residents in the three counties immediately surrounding CCHSA, Columbia, Richmond (GA) and Aiken (SC), have no health insurance.
More than 65% of our patients have no health insurance. Most of our uninsured patients have jobs. Frequently their employer does not offer, or they simply cannot afford, health insurance benefits.
The challenge faced by many of our patients is limited or no access to affordable, quality primary care. They are the medically vulnerable of our community. Many rely on emergency departments for primary care or simply do not seek care until a condition deteriorates to emergency status.
Christ Community Health Services Augusta bridges the gap between those without insurance and the regular healthcare they need. In doing so, CCHSA not only meets the needs of many in the Augusta area, we also provide relief to the overburdened emergency rooms of local hospitals.
We depend on the generous support of individuals, companies and churches to fill the gap between the discounted fees we charge uninsured patients and the actual cost of the medical services provided.
