 22 Veterans commit suicide daily.
Losing 1 Veteran to suicide is too many.

May I introduce my hero Sergeant First Class Charles Meadows?

I was 19 when I served in the U.S. Army, deployed to Saudi Arabia and fought in the Gulf War. With any war you see and experience many extremely unpleasant things needless to say on many nights I was very afraid, and SFC Meadows kept me safe like a father would keep his daughter.

As the war was coming to an end SFC Meadows returned to the States before our unit to prepare the barracks for returning soldiers. Now to know SFC Meadows, he wasn't an emotional man if you have ever seen Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak Ridge one of my favorite movies then you have an idea about SFC Meadows. You can imagine my surprise when I returned he gave me a big hug and said "well done" I didn't know this would be the last time I saw him or heard his voice because he took his life.

Veterans don't walk around wearing medals, or brag about what they have experienced. They live among us quiet heroes making the world a better place. Often these men and women aren’t thanked enough, aren’t honored enough, and aren’t respected enough. Every Veteran has their own story. You can't see what they've seen, know what they know, or understand the impact and effects of war, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression. So how do you know when one needs help?

Veterans choose their path knowing the difficulties it holds: separating from love ones, placing service above self, and in the worst case sacrificing their life. These courageous people are very real in our lives. They are the sole foundation that holds you and I together, protects you and your family and defend our country.
Veterans need you more than ever today.
